WORD is thrilled to welcome author Nathan Ballingrud to Jersey City for a celebration of his new book Wounds: Six Stories From the Border of Hell. In Wounds, Ballingrud follows up his first collection North American Lake Monsters with an even more confounding, strange, and utterly entrancing collection of six stories, including one new novella. From the eerie dread descending upon a New Orleans dive bartender after a cell phone is left behind in a rollicking bar fight in "The Visible Filth" to the search for the map of hell in "The Butcher's Table," Ballingrud's beautifully crafted stories are riveting in their quietly terrifying depictions of the murky line between the known and the unknown.
Please note that admission to this event requires either a purchase of Wounds OR a $5 admission voucher. Books and vouchers can be purchased online in advance or at the door on the day of the event; advance orders will be available for pickup at the store on the day of the event. The admission voucher functions like a gift card and is good toward $5 off anything in store at WORD on the day of the event only.
