This event will take place at our Jersey City location.
New Jersey and New York poets unite for the second edition of the Cross Poetry Reading Series, in which budding and established poets from the area share their works with us. This month we’re joined by Abigail Welhouse, Keayr Braxton, Jillian Brall, and Melissa Ahart.
Abigail Welhouse is the author of the chapbook Bad Baby (dancing girl press, 2015). Her writing has appeared in The Toast, The Morning News, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from the City College of New York, sends Secret Poems at tinyletter.com/welhouse, and would like to talk to you on Twitter: @welhouse.
Keayr Braxton is a past winner of the Glascock Poetry Prize and her poetry has been anthologized by the National Poetry Society. She holds an MFA from Hunter College, and works in television and film production.
Jillian Brall is co-editor of the poetry journal, Lyre Lyre (lyrelyre.com). She's been writing poetry since she was very young. She is also a musician and visual artist, focused mainly on abstract painting and collage. The name of her unpublished poetry manuscript is Venus Spins Backwards, which has also recently become the name of the website where she displays her artwork (venusspinsbackwards.com).
Melissa Ahart's work has appeared in Quadrant and A Woman's Thing. She holds an MFA from Hunter College and runs the Roots Poetry Series. She is a school librarian by day and lives with her husband and two sons in Brooklyn.
