An apology for choices Mishka Shubaly wasn’t sure he’d live long enough to regret, this fiercely honest, emotional, and self-laceratingly witty book is a story of family, heartbreak, violence, punk rock, brokenness, broke-ness, sex, love, loss, drinking, drinking, drinking, drinking, and an unlikely savior: distance running. I Swear I'll Make It Up to You is a memoir of a precocious young man trying to be good and failing (and failing, and failing)—until, one day, he succeeds.
Mishka Shubaly began drinking at 13 and college at 15. At 22, he received the Dean's Fellowship from the Master's Writing Program at Columbia University. Upon receiving his expensive MFA, he promptly moved into a Toyota minivan to tour the country nonstop as a singer-songwriter. At 32, he got sober and shortly thereafter began publishing a string of bestselling Kindle Singles through Amazon. His third solo album, Coward's Path, was released in 2015 on Invisible Hands Music.
Tim Kreider is an essayist and cartoonist. His most recent book is We Learn Nothing (Simon & Schuster). His cartoon, "The Pain--When Will It End?" ran for twelve years in the Baltimore City Paper and other alternative weeklies, and is archived at The Pain Comics.
Zachary Lipez sings in the band Freshkills, tends bar in Brooklyn, and deejays all over New York City. His writing appears on Vol.1 Brooklyn and in Please Take Me Off the Guest List.
