This event will take place at our Jersey City location. Our poetry series is pleased to present writers Gary J. Whitehead (A Glossary of Chickens), Cynthia Atkins (In The Event of Full Disclosure), and Michael T. Young (The Beautiful Moment of Being Lost) as they read from their works. Gary J. Whitehead’s third book of poems is A Glossary of Chickens (Princeton University Press). His work has appeared in The New Yorker and has been featured on Garrison Keillor’s public radio program The Writer's Almanac. He is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry.
Cynthia Atkins' poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Alaska Quarterly Review, American Letters & Commentary, Caketrain, Del Sol Review, Denver Quarterly, Harpur Palate, The Journal, North American Review, Tampa Review, Valparaiso Review, and Verse Daily among others. Her second collection, In The Event of Full Disclosure was recently featured on the Huffington Post and the Bill and Dave Cocktail Hour, and reviewed in [PANK] and the North American Review. She earned her MFA from Columbia University’s School of the Arts and holds residencies from the VCCA and Breadloaf Writer’s Conference and currently is a assistant professor of English at Virginia Western Community College.
Michael T. Young’s fourth book is The Beautiful Moment of Being Lost (Poets Wear Prada Press). He received a fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Chaffin Poetry Award. He was also twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His work as appeared in numerous journals and anthologies including The Louisville Review, Off the Coast, The Potomac Review, In the Red/In the Black and Rabbit Ears: TV Poems.
