BK: The Evil Hours with David Morris and Elliot Ackerman

01/22/2015 - 7:00pm

This event will take place at our Brooklyn location.

PTSD afflicts as many as 30 percent of veterans of the recent wars, and its reach extends far beyond the armed forces. In The Evil Hours, former Marine infantry officer David Morris looks at the history of PTSD, both in his own life and the scientific, literary, and cultural history of the illness. This event is co-sponsored by Words After War, an organization dedicated to building a community of thoughtful, engaged, and skilled veteran writers. Morris will be joined by Elliot Ackerman, the Istanbul-based author of Green on Blue who served five tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Facebook RSVP encouraged but not required.

In the tradition of The Emperor of All Maladies and The Noonday Demon, a moving, eye-opening exploration of PTSD
Just as polio loomed over the 1950s, and AIDS stalked the 1980s and ’90s, posttraumatic stress disorder haunts us in the early years of the twenty-first century.
