BK: Brooklyn For Peace, Arts & Culture presents Jan Clausen

01/30/2015 - 6:30pm to 8:15pm

This event takes place at our Brooklyn location.

Brooklyn For Peace, Arts & Culture presents poet/writer Jan Clausen and her new book, Veiled Spill: A Sequence. Clausen will read from the book and discuss her work as an artist and activist, from the environmental movement to Occupy Wall Street, followed by a Q&A. Musician John O'Connor will also perform.

Veiled Spill:A Sequence began as a response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and European laws banning the full-face veil. Veiled Spill unfolds a meditation on the links and gaps between interior glimpses and sprawling histories, between the beauty of the moment and the terror of the plot.

Clausen has been a resident of Brooklyn since the 1970s, and is the author of a dozen books in a range of genres, including From a Glass House and If You Like Difficulty. Prose titles include the story collection Mother, Sister, Daughter, Lover; the novels SinkingStealing and The Prosperine Papers; and the memoir Apples and Oranges: My Journey Through Sexual Identity.

Facebook RSVP encoureaged but not required.
