Penneris the author of the novel in stories Shaken In The Water, (Foxhead Books), and her short fiction has appeared in Lost Writers, in the anthology Tongue Screws and Testimonies (Herald Press), and received an Honorable Mention for the Open City R. Rofihe Trophy. Her nonfiction has been published in the Bellevue Literary Review, The Fiddleback, Luna Luna, Rhubarb, and The Center for Mennonite Writing Journal. One of her essays was an honorable mention for the Burns Archive Prize for Nonfiction and nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She has taught at James Madison University and the Long Island Business Institute.
