A writer, a fighter, an accountant, and a scientist walk into a bar… well, not really. But these are the romances heroines we’ll be meeting this summer in the basement at Word Brooklyn. If you’ve always wanted to take a class where the book list was just romance novels, here’s your chance. Over four Sundays, we’ll read a mix of historical and contemporary romance and think about heroines—how they look, labor, and love. Through a mix of guided discussion and short lectures on the latest romance scholarship, we’ll unpack a pop culture form that we relish but are often told to dismiss. Come for the reading pleasure, stay for the academic perspective!
If you're joining after the first session it's no problem! The class has been discounted for later arrivals. :D
