    Preorder by 9 p.m. on February 12 to receive a signed/personalized book. Note "signed copy request" along with the name(s) you'd like the book personalized to (if any) in the comments section of your order, and we'll respond with an estimate of when to expect your signed books.

    You can also select "in-store pick-up" to pick up your book(s) in our Brooklyn or Jersey City store.

    Looking for a new and exciting place to host the best birthday party ever? Party with us at WORD! Children 3 and up can spend their special day celebrating in our Brooklyn or Jersey City store with parties themed around some of the best children's books of all time. Our parties include storytime, games, arts and crafts, and wrapped book favors, all hosted by our bubbly book experts!

    The times available are:
    Brooklyn: Sundays from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 

    Jersey City: Saturdays from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

    Want to treat the 18-and-under kid in your life? Sign them up for our birthday club! During the month of their birthday, they'll get a Happy Birthday postcard and coupon, good for 25% off books and toys. Registration in the club is free. If you'd like to sign up a child, you can call or e-mail us at kids@wordbookstores.com. Make sure to include the child's first and last name, birth month and year, and the physical address where you'd like the postcard to be sent. We promise to only use this information for Birthday Club, and we'll email you a confirmation that they've been signed up! (Please note: the coupon must be redeemed in-store and is not applicable to online orders.)

    Clayton feels most alive when he’s with his grandfather, Cool Papa Byrd, and the band of Bluesmen—he can’t wait to join them, just as soon as he has a blues song of his own.     ABOUT GOLDFISH GHOST

    Goldfish Ghost was born on the surface of the water in the bowl on a dresser in a boy’s room. The boy’s room was pleasant and familiar, but Goldfish Ghost wanted company, so he set out to find a friend. He floats over the neighborhood, past the pier, and let the breeze carry him into town where he discovers that not many people pay attention to goldfish ghosts. Off he floats, searching for the perfect home and the perfect friend and then he hears a voice. . .
